Charleston Falls nature preserve.

Taken with an infrared-modified Nikon D80. Visit Life Pixel to have your camera modified to infrared. Having a camera modified to shoot infrared is probably the best decision I've ever made as a photographer. It has simplified my workflow immensely.

thats incredible. its exactly the kind of thing I've been looking around for. no one in camera stores understand when I say I'm looking for "infrared" lenses. they all assume I mean night vision and things like that. :+fav:

Very nice. Can't wait to get a new camera so I can have the D50 converted.
I'd also like to see this in "natural" Nikon IR color.

Beautiful, Steve. How long did it take for you to get the camera back? This is the neatest shot. The reflection is remarkable and it almost gives the feeling of having been shot with fisheye lens, at least to me this is how I see it. It is how the water is almost full circle that gives it that feeling, I think. Love it.

Life Pixel did my EOS 20D as well. Very happy with the results.

What a great scene you've captured here. Most impressive.

when you remove the orginal glas and replase it whit an ir glas is it still possible to take normal colour photos??
:icondarknessandlight:
Ha, fooled you! It was almost 70 degrees outside when I took this. That's the magic of infrared.

As far as I know, there's no such thing as an "infrared lens". To shoot infrared on a regular camera, you need an external filter which attaches to the lens. By far, the best infrared filter is the Hoya R72. Ask for that filter specifically, and if they don't have it in stock, just get one from Amazon.com. Before I had my D80 converted, all of my infrared work was done with the Hoya filter.
