I've realized something lately. After photographing fire dancers, Victorian aristocrats, and (of course) zombies in the last 3 months, I think I prefer people as subjects. Whether it's some artistic portraiture session, photojournalism, or just plain old-fashioned street photography, I find (lately, anyway) that human beings are my favorite subjects. This is odd, considering how misanthropic and anti-social I am in general. Seriously... I can't even go to the supermarket without wanting to strangle some stupid bastard for blocking the whole damn aisle while they compare cereal prices. Braindead parents who let their heathen children run amok in public... strangers who
insist on trying to make pointless, boring small talk when I make every effort short of saying "go away" to make them stop... people, in general, just plain
annoy me. But as photographic subjects? Or to simply sit back and
observe them, to watch human nature in action? I find them absolutely fascinating. Is that strange?
Don't get me wrong... people I
choose to interact with... friends, associates, you guys, etc... they're cool. I like them. Especially the awesome people I worked with at the Victorian mansion photoshoot a couple weeks ago:

The shoot wasn't limited to strictly Victorian themes. We did some creepy/goth-y/fetish-y stuff in the basement. (Obviously.) We'll be doing another one in a couple months. Having now seen the location firsthand, I have lots of ideas planned ahead for next time. I can't wait!
By the way, I read an amazing book today...
Letter to a Christian Nation by Sam Harris. I'll have to wait till my next journal to discuss it though. I'm tired.
